ReviewHub is a community-powered review platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and what rights you have over it. ReviewHub processes personal data in accordance with Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.

Who we are

References to ReviewHub, we, us, or our refer to ReviewHub. This policy applies to the ReviewHub mobile application, website, and related services. ReviewHub is intended for users aged 18 and above.

What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate, protect, and improve the platform.

Account identity

Google account identifier, email address, internal user ID, generated system username, chosen display name, profile privacy setting, and Google profile metadata handled by authentication providers.

Review and listing content

Ratings, written reviews, prices paid, comments, listing details, store/vendor/service names, brand names, and photos you choose to attach.

Location data

GPS coordinates or freeform location descriptions only when you choose to attach them to a review or listing.

Interactions

Helpful votes, reports, review requests, listing views, drafts, push tokens, and other in-app actions.

Search and usage analytics

Search query text, result counts, no-result searches, selected listings, review-flow events, sign-in events, and similar product usage events.

Technical diagnostics

Crash logs, stack traces, app version, device/OS information, performance traces, and related debugging context.

We do not collect background location, contacts, call logs, or data unrelated to operating, protecting, or improving ReviewHub.

How we use your data

Operate your account and authenticate you securely
Display your reviews, listings, comments, and contributions
Show nearby listings and reviews when you choose to share location
Send notifications about activity relevant to you
Detect, investigate, and remove harmful or violating content
Understand searches, no-result searches, and workflows that need improvement
Diagnose crashes, performance issues, and app errors
Protect the security and integrity of the platform

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your personal data with third parties for advertising, marketing, or cross-app tracking.

Community content

Reviews submitted to ReviewHub become part of the community record. Your public contributions show the username you choose during setup or the generated Userxxxx username assigned by ReviewHub. Your Google real name, Google profile photo, and email address are not displayed publicly by ReviewHub.

Do not include sensitive personal information in reviews, comments, listing descriptions, or uploaded photos. Reviews may be edited by you and may be removed through moderation if they violate community guidelines or applicable law.

Location data

ReviewHub never collects location data silently or in the background. Location is only collected when you explicitly choose to attach it to a review or listing, such as to indicate where you purchased a product or where a vendor is located.

Analytics and error monitoring

ReviewHub uses analytics to understand whether the app is useful and where users get stuck. This includes search query text, search result counts, no-result searches, review-flow events, listing views, listing creation, review requests, helpful votes, and sign-in events.

ReviewHub uses PostHog for product analytics. PostHog is identified with an internal Supabase user ID and does not receive your Google email address from our app analytics integration.

ReviewHub uses Sentry for crash reporting and error monitoring. Sentry may receive crash logs, stack traces, app version, device/OS information, performance traces, and related debugging context. Sentry screenshot capture and view hierarchy capture are disabled.

Third parties

Supabase

Database, authentication, file storage, and backend infrastructure.

Google Sign-In

Account authentication using your Google account identifier, email address, and profile metadata handled during authentication.

PostHog

Product analytics, including usage events, search query text, result counts, listing/review identifiers, and app/device context.

Sentry

Crash reporting, error monitoring, performance diagnostics, stack traces, and related debugging context.

Google Maps/Places APIs

Place lookup, geocoding, and map/location features you choose to use.

Expo services

Push notifications and app update/build infrastructure.

We may also disclose data if required by Kenyan law, valid legal process, or where necessary to protect users, the public, or the integrity of ReviewHub.

Data retention and deletion

We retain personal data for as long as your account is active or as long as needed to operate, protect, or improve ReviewHub. Analytics and crash data may be retained by our processors according to their retention settings and our operational needs.

You may request account deletion from within the app or by contacting us. Reviews, listings, and attached public content may be anonymised and retained as community assets. Your profile, display name, push token, drafts, and account identity are deleted or disconnected from your identity where technically feasible.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to access, correct, delete, object to processing of, port, and withdraw consent for your personal data where applicable.

To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@rvwhub.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with Kenya's Office of the Data Protection Commissioner.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted data transmission, row-level security, access controls, and limited use of third-party processors. No system is perfectly secure.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy as the platform evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the version and effective date and notify users where required.
